In 1863, three of the bloodiest battles in the Civil War were fought – Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. The president was Abraham Lincoln.
Carrollton, itself, was raided by Confederate soldiers who, riding with John Hunt Morgan on a tear through Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio, robbed the bank at Sixth and Highland Streets.
It was also in that year that a young shoemaker named John Glauber started his own business, Glauber’s shoes. The shoe store is now closed but it was one of the oldest stores continually operated for more than a century in the state of Kentucky.
Glauber’s to this day still offers a wide range of work boots from Muck, Timberland Pro, and Redwing Shoes. Over the years Glauber’s has expanded its offering to include hunting and shooting products. Glauber’s has everything the modern sportsman is looking for.
Glauber’s is one of the tri-state area’s largest hunting and shooting sports stores. Choose from rimfire to magnum, shotgun to rifle, pistols to tactical and muzzleloaders. If you’re looking for fancy display cases, go somewhere else. But if you want to see an industry-wide showcase of hundreds of guns to choose from, come to Glauber’s.
With so many guns in stock, we need plenty of ammo. We carry the most popular calibers as well as calibers most stores don’t bother with. If you need it, we have it. With the area’s largest reloading department we are constantly expanding it to suit everyone’s needs.
Our archery department is hands down the area’s best. We have one of the widest selections of bows, arrows, and accessories. Our archery pro-shop is very well equipped with state of the art equipment, including an electric bow press. Best of all our pros are what makes the difference. With over 50 years of combined experience, our staff can help you with all your archery needs. We don’t just sell bows, we love to use them too!
